St. Louis took the NL Central in 2011 en route to the World Series championship, and Cincinnati Reds won the division the year before. It’s very early, but the Cards already lead the Reds by four games as their three-game series continues Wednesday at Busch Stadium.

St. Louis Cardinals is riding a three-game win streak in which it has outscored Chicago and Cincinnati by a combined 17-5. In losing three of four to the Cardinals this season, the Reds have scored one run in each defeat. Latos has yet to find his groove, lasting no longer than five innings in either of his starts. He has as many walks, five, as strikeouts. In three career starts against St. Louis, Latos is 1-2 with a 10.80 ERA. SS Rafael Furcal is 5 for 14 against Latos, and C Yadier Molina is 3 for 7.

Garcia has thrived against the Reds in his career, going 6-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 10 appearances. But on April 11 he was knocked around in Cincy, giving up three runs on 11 hits in just 4 2/3 innings. Garcia usually fares well against slugger Joey Votto; he’s held him to five hits and no homers in 19 at-bats.
