After rolling to victories in their first games of the season over the weekend the Pac-12 trio of Southern Cal, UCLA, and Washington will be back on the gridiron on Saturday in three of the top college football betting matchups of Week 2.
The No. 2 Trojans will be in New Jersey as they take on the Big East’s Syracuse Orange at MetLife Stadium. Southern Cal romped to a 49-10 win over Hawaii in their opener, with QB Matt Barkley throwing for 372 yards and four touchdowns on the day.
Syracuse lost 42-41 at home to Northwestern over the weekend, and they’ll be big underdogs on the college football lines at Bovada for Saturday against a Trojans team that beat them 38-17 in SoCal back in 2011 as a 17-point favorite. That was an OVER result. The Orange are 27-point dogs for this one.
UCLA got past Rice 49-24 on the road in their first game of the season, with Johnathan Franklin rushing for 214 yards and three scores on the day for the Bruins. This weekend, though, they are 5.5-point underdogs at home against the Big Ten’s Nebraska Cornhuskers.
No. 16 Nebraska easily beat Southern Miss 49-20 over the weekend, although they lost starting running back Rex Burkhead to a knee injury early in the contest. Burkhead is considered questionable for Saturday’s road matchup against the Bruins.
Finally, Washington will get the toughest test of the weekend as they play a road game against No. 3 LSU, which had no trouble winning its opener by a score of 41-14 at home against North Texas over the weekend. Kenny Hilliard ran for 141 yards and two TDs.
The Huskies are coming off a 21-12 home win over San Diego State, but they came up short the last time they played the SEC’s LSU – they lost 31-23 at home to the Tigers back in September 2009. LSU was an 18.5-point road favorite in that OVER result. The Tigers are 23.5-point favorites this time.
