The Monday night game this week looks like a total mismatch as the Texans’ No. 1 scoring and No. 2 pass defense in the NFL goes against the struggling Jets offense and inaccurate QB Mark Sanchez.

Houston is off to its first 4-0 start and leads the league in point differential at +72 as only one of its wins has been by less than 20 points. Last week, the Texans had no trouble in a 38-14 win over Tennessee. Danieal Manning and Kareem Jackson returned interceptions for touchdowns, Matt Schaub threw for 202 yards and two scores and Arian Foster ran for 86 yards and a touchdown in the rout.

Houston end J.J. Watt is likely the NFL Defensive Player of the Year right now. He had two of the Texans’ four sacks in the triumph vs. Tennessee. He has recorded 1 1/2-plus sacks in every game this season and has 7 1/2 on the year. He is the first player since Kevin Greene in 1998 to record at least 1.5 sacks in each of his team’s first four games.

Dating back to last year, Schaub has won his past eight games. Houston’s average margin of victory is 20 points in those games.

The Jets are nothing short of anemic on offense right now. Sanchez is last in the NFL in completion percentage and has completed just 44.3 percent of his passes in the past three games. New York was totally dominated last week in a 34-0 home loss to San Francisco. Sanchez finished 13-for-29 passing for only 103 yards, and he had two of the Jets’ four turnovers. Another pick was dropped. The Jets managed just 145 total yards and allowed the Niners to rush for 245 (New York is No. 31 in rush defense). To make matters worse, top receiver Santonio Holmes injured his foot in the game and is likely done for the season. Two weeks ago, the Jets lost their best defensive player, cornerback Darrelle Revis, for the season as well. Tight end Dustin Keller, who likely now will be Sanchez’s No. 1 target, miss the 49ers game with an injury but should play Monday.

In the Jets home-opener in Week 1, they scored 48 points en route to a huge win over the Bills. The 49ers game was their second home game. Since the merger, it’s the most points scored by a team in their home opener and then shut out in their next home game. Coach Rex Ryan says he is sticking with Sanchez for now, although the calls for Tim Tebow already have begun. The Jets have scored only two offensive touchdowns in the past 12-plus quarters. It’s Tebow, who rescued the Denver Broncos last season after replacing Kyle Orton when the team was 1-4.

Houston and New York haven’t played since November 2010, a 30-27 home Jets win. New York is 5-0 all-time vs. the Texans.
