Week 2 of the 2015 SuperContest at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook proved to be a lot tougher than Week 1, as just 47 entries of the record 1,727 (three percent) went 5-0 and only three have yet to lose a pick at a perfect 10-0.
Week 3 figures to be intriguing as well with the two biggest point spreads on the SuperContest Card involving last year’s Super Bowl teams in the New England Patriots (2-0) and Seattle Seahawks (0-2).
Both the Patriots and Seahawks are double-digit home favorites for similar reasons, as their two opponents are among the NFL’s worst teams. New England is a 13.5-point favorite against the Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1), who are not 0-2 for the first time since 2011.
Meanwhile, Seattle is 14.5-point chalk versus the Chicago Bears (0-2), who will be playing without injured starting quarterback Jay Cutler (hamstring).
winless teams all over the board
Seattle and Chicago are not the lone winless teams in action though, with seven others also hoping to snap their respective skids by registering their first victory of 2015. That dubious group includes the New York Giants, Detroit Lions, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts.
Week 3 will kick off with an NFC East rivalry game on Thursday Night Football, as the Giants try to get their first win against the Washington Redskins (1-1) at home. New York is a 3.5-point favorite and has won the last four meetings with the Redskins both straight-up and against the spread.
The Sunday Night Football matchup pits the Denver Broncos (2-0) against the Lions (0-2). The Broncos are three-point road favorites, but Detroit head coach Jim Caldwell knows Denver quarterback Peyton Manning well from their days together with the Indianapolis Colts, which could give the Lions an edge.
The Green Bay Packers (2-0) wrap up Week 3 by playing their second consecutive prime-time game, hosting the Kansas City Chiefs (1-1) on Monday Night Football. The Packers are coming off a 27-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football as 3.5-point favorites and are set as 6.5-point chalk against the Chiefs.
