Action Report: Bettors jumping on Cardinals’ moneyline, Under

USA Today Sports

It’s official: baseball season is back! The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs kick things off at historic Wrigley Field Sunday evening.

At online book Pinnacle Sports, bettors are clearly believing in Mike Matheny’s crew, as 63 percent of all moneyline bets are on the Cards. It’s a different story on the run line, however, as 60 percent of the public is backing the Cubbies -1.5.

“The Cubs -1.5 opened at +165 and is now +191, so it looks like there’s some weight to those minority Cardinals spread bets,” a spokesperson from Pinnacle told Covers.

“On the moneyline, the Cubs opened at +104, but that’s now -108 – suggesting there’s a few conflicting trends at play in this department.”

In a matchup between two stud aces (Jon Lester and Adam Wainwright), it comes as no surprise that the majority of totals bettors are on the Under (62 percent).

“As far as totals go, bettors seem to like the pairing of Lester and Wainwright to keep the scoring low. The Under seven runs opened at +115, but that’s sitting at -117 as of 5:30 p.m. EST – the best price on the market,” said the book’s spokesperson.
