AP Top 25: Kentucky is new No. 1, North Carolina falls to No. 9

Kentucky has moved into the top spot of the AP Top 25 after North Carolina’s first loss of the season, at Northern Iowa on Saturday.

The Tar Heels remained in the top ten, falling only to No. 9 in the loss that soured a Homecoming appearance for Iowa native Marcus Paige.

Kentucky and Maryland each moved up one spot after UNC’s fall, with Michigan State jumping ten spots to No. 3 following a big week that included Denzel Valentine’s triple-double against Kansas, earning him CBS Sports Player of the Week honors.

Virginia fell out of the top ten to No. 12 after losing to George Washington and Wichita State is down eleven spots to No. 20 after losing at Tulsa.
