Betting stat of the day: A’s on miserable Opening Day drought

USA Today Sports

The Oakland Athletics have lost 10 consecutive Opening Day games heading into Monday’s season opener against the Texas Rangers at Coliseum. Furthermore, the A’s have lost five-consecutive in front of their home fans.

Oakland’s last win on Opening Day came in the 2004 season when it prevailed over the Rangers by a score of 5-4.

Last season, A’s righty Sonny Gray tossed six innings of five hit ball before the pen surrendered a pair of runs in the top of the ninth en route to a 2-0 loss to the Cleveland Indians.

Gray is the A’s probable starter Monday, while the Rangers are slated to counter with Yovani Gallardo.

At the time of writing, the A’s were -150 home faves.
