College football fans will welcome a new bowl game to the December schedule when the Marshall Thundering Herd face off against the Northern Illinois Huskies in the inaugural Boca Raton Bowl at FAU Stadium. This bowl game is a clash of two conference champs after Marshall ran away with the Conference USA title and the Huskies easily rolled to a Mid-American Conference title.
The Thundering Herd opened up as a big favorite for this bowl game matchup, with the oddsmakers at the online sportsbooks making them double-digit chalk on the betting lines.

The Thundering Herd nearly pulled off a perfect season, but came up just short in their regular season finale against Western Kentucky, falling 67-66 as a 23.5 point favorite. Marshall rebounded from that loss with a 26-23 victory over Louisiana Tech in the Conference USA Championship Game, but they once again failed to cover the 9-point spread. The Herd dropped their last three games ATS, and when favored this season they were 12-1 SU and 7-5-1 ATS.
The Huskies closed out their season on a seven-game winning streak that included a 51-17 rout of Bowling Green in the MAC Championship Game. Northern Illinois was a 5.5-point favorite in the title game and easily covered the spread, their third straight ATS win. The Huskies were an underdog three times this season, posting a 2-1 mark both SU and ATS. In their last seven bowl games the Huskies are 2-5 SU and 6-0-1 on the UNDER for totals bettors.
