The month of September is stacked with some big-money fights, including a pair of bouts featuring the two biggest boxing betting studs in the sport today.
And the sportsbooks are ready with boxing odds action on the top bouts, including a Heavyweight title fight between Wladimir Klitschko and Kubrat Pulev and a Welterweight title fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Marcos Rene Maidana.
The featured bout in September will be a rematch between boxing betting’s most reliable warrior Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26 KO’s) and Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KO’s). The two will meet in the ring on September 13 for all three of Mayweather’s Welterweight titles as well as his Light Middleweight title.
The first fight was a close affair with Mayweather squeaking out a majority decision, yet for the upcoming rematch oddsmakers at 5Dimes have the champ listed as the -1000 favorite. The Maidana upset is currently offered with a +650 boxing odds payday, and one has to consider that Mayweather is turning 38 and beginning to slow down.
The biggest stud in boxing betting, Wladimir Klitschko (62-3, 52 KO’s), will also make an appearance in September when he defends his four Heavyweight titles against the undefeated Kubrat Pulev (20-0, 11 KO’s). The boxing odds price on the champ is currently at -650 at 5Dimes, while the Pulev upset will pay +430.
It’s tough to imagine Pulev getting through the lethal Klitschko jab and one-two combinations, but like Mayweather, Klitschko’s best days are behind him and Pulev is the best that has come along in a long time. It might be worth a couple of units on the longshot upset in this fight as well.
On September 20 U.K. Super Middleweight sensation Georges Groves (19-2, 15 KO’s) will look to get back to his winning ways against Christopher Rebrasse (22-2-3, 6 KO’s). This fight is expected to be one-sided as the -1600 line on Groves would indicate. Even at a +800 payday, action on the Rebrasse upset is not recommended here.
