An old-school Big East matchup highlights Thursday’s games involving teams on the bubble of making the NCAA Tournament’s field of 68.

Seton Hall plays host to Providence in a “Double-Bubble” game of two teams fighting for their lives.

The Friars have been sliding down the bracket over the last few weeks. All they have managed in the last seven games is a sweep of Georgetown. Seton Hall is the last potential tournament team on Providence’s schedule leading up to the Big East tournament.

Seton Hall already beat Providence on the road, so the Pirates are looking for the season sweep and perhaps a little breathing room from the bottom of the bubble. That first win over Providence is the only one the Pirates have over a likely tournament team.

Of course, if the Friars keep moving down the bracket, even that may no longer be true. The good news for Seton Hall is that it still has games with Xavier and Butler to try to help build the resume.

The Huskies have only one game left on their schedule that can help play them off the bubble. This isn’t it. A loss to the Bulls would be their first bad loss of the season, but it would be an especially ugly one. USF is below 200 in the RPI, although it might move out of that group with a win.
