Bubble Tracker: Florida helps case with bubble win over Georgia

There was nothing pretty about this Florida-Georgia game, but the result looks beautiful to the Gators, who came away with a 57-53 win. That gives Florida a sweep of the season series with the Bulldogs. Florida could still stand some higher quality wins, but those chances will come.

Georgia, on the other hand, is falling further from contention. The Bulldogs have only one meaningful win, which came at home against South Carolina. Time is running out on Georgia.

Here’s a look at the other bubble teams in action on Tuesday:

Michigan: Lost 76-66 at Ohio State

Record: 19-8, 9-5 Big 10

Status update: Caris LeVert was a late scratch for Michigan and the Wolverines couldn’t scratch out a win at Ohio State. Michigan still sits with just three top 100 RPI wins and now has a loss outside the top 50. Michigan’s hopes seem to be fading.

Butler: Won 88-75 vs. Creighton

Record: 17-10, 8-6 Big East

Status update: Butler picked up a much needed home win over Creighton. Beating the Blue Jays isn’t a big help for the tournament resume of the Bulldogs, but losing at home would have been a big negative.

Vanderbilt: Lost 75-74 at Mississippi State

Record: 15-11, 7-6 SEC

Status update: Vanderbilt blew a 17-point second half lead at Starksville and lost at the buzzer to Mississippi State. The Commodores fall to 15-11 overall and 10-11 vs the top 200 teams in the RPI. It’s a very rare occasion when a team gets an at-large bid with a below .500 record against that group.

VCU: Won 83-67 vs. Rhode Island

Record: 19-7, 11-2 Atlantic 10

Status update: VCU pounded Rhode Island at home and seems to have gotten its groove back after a two-game losing streak a week ago. The Rams are in a part of their schedule where they are playing teams that can only hurt them. The game that can help are still to come.
