CFL Week 9 Trends and Betting Preview

Two teams to avoid so far this season on the Canadian Football League odds meet this week as the Saskatchewan Roughriders get a visit from the Calgary Stampeders – with the two teams a combined 1-12 against the spread. Here’s a look at the four CFL betting matchups on tap for Week 9; find game lines and futures at Bodog.

Montreal at B.C. – August 20

Last 10 Meetings: B.C. 5-5 SU, 6-4 ATS | OU 6-4

The Alouettes had the slight edge on the Lions at 2-1 both SU and ATS in their three meetings last season as they hit the gridiron together in Week 9 odds action on Thursday night. Montreal enters this game at just 2-5 SU and 3-3-1 ATS and in last place in the Eastern standings, but they’re also 3-0-1 ATS in their four games as an underdog so far in 2015. The Lions are just 1-3 ATS as the favored team.

Hamilton at Edmonton – August 21

Last 10 Meetings: Edmonton 6-4 SU, 6-4 ATS | OU 5-5

The UNDER has paid off for totals bettors in three of the last four games between the Eskimos and the Tiger-Cats with their Week 9 matchup on tap for Friday night. Hamilton continues to be the best wager in the CFL this season at 6-1 ATS to go along with their 5-2 SU record through their first seven games. The Eskimos have also been kind to CFL bettors in 2015 at 5-2 both SU and ATS through their seven outings.

Calgary at Saskatchewan – August 22

Last 10 Meetings: Saskatchewan 3-7 SU, 5-4-1 ATS | OU 7-3

The Roughriders have picked up just one ATS victory in their last five games against the Stampeders with those teams set to meet for the first time this season on Saturday. Saskatchewan is winless at 0-7 SU and only slightly better at 1-6 ATS heading into their Week 9 matchup, with Calgary at 4-2 SU on the season but somehow worse that the Riders at 0-6 ATS on the CFL betting odds.

Ottawa at Toronto – August 23

Last 10 Meetings: Toronto 1-1 SU, 1-1 ATS | OU 0-2

Both games between the RedBlacks and the Argonauts last season were UNDER results with those teams meeting for the first time in 2015 on Sunday. Ottawa has been a profitable team as an underdog so far this season, going 4-2 ATS in that situation for their supporters – they’ve been dogs in each of their six games in 2015. Toronto, meanwhile, enters their Week 9 contest at 5-2 both SU and ATS on the season.
