Champions League: Man City, Barcelona

The second round of Champions League group action takes place this week with some great matchups on the betting slate.

Manchester City plays host to AS Roma and the English squad really needs a win after a loss in their first match against Bayern Munich. PSG hosts a Barcelona squad that has yet to concede a goal in La Liga play.

And in a couple of the bigger Wednesday matches Spanish champion Atletico Madrid faces Italian champion Juventus and Liverpool hits the road to face Basel.

Manchester City vs. AS Roma

Roma is off to another good start in Serie A with five wins in five matches, sitting tied with Juventus atop the league table. Their defense has been stellar, only allowing one goal in league play, and their offense came alive in their 5-1 win over CSKA Moscow in their opening Champions League match.

Man City is the big time home favorite on their pitch and they need the three points after their opening CL loss to Bayern. City snapped their three match Premier League winless streak with a win in their last match.

Oddsmakers have Man City as the big betting favorite at -170, with Roma at +425 and a draw line of +325 at sportsbooks monitored by Odds – VSB

PSG vs. Barcelona

Barcelona is all alone in first place in Spain’s La Liga and in six league matches they have 17 goals and have given up none. On top of that they had a clean sheet in their first Champions League match.

PSG played to a draw in their last CL match facing Ajax, where their offense looked out of sync in only scoring one goal.

Barca is the road Champions League betting favorite at -105 for this match, with PSG at +275 and a draw line of +260

Atletico Madrid vs. Juventus

Atletico was shocked in their last CL match, losing to Olympiakos Piraeus, and if they lose this match on their home pitch it will be an uphill climb to make the knockout phase.

Juventus has picked off right where they left off last season when they won the Scudetto as they are tied for first place in the Serie A table with five wins in five matches – and what is more impressive is they have yet to concede a goal.

Atletico is the betting favorite at home with posted odds of +110 with Juve at +260 and a draw line of +235 at sportsbooks monitored by Odds – VSB

Basel vs. Liverpool

Basel has been a thorn in the side of many clubs, mainly Chelsea, in the last couple of seasons of CL play. While they are the betting underdog at home they face a Liverpool side that is off to a terrible Premier League start and was less than impressive in beating Ludogorets 2-1 in their first CL match.

Basel is the home underdog in this encounter with odds of +255 at sportsbooks monitored by Odds – VSB
with Liverpool posted at +100 and the draw line at +260.
