Chris Sale signing in Boston causes shift in World Series futures

We’re only halfway through Major League Baseball’s “hot stove” season and despite plenty of big free agent signings and trades the biggest line mover was ace starter Chris Sale being shipped from the Chicago White Sox to the Boston Red Sox.

Sale was acquired in early December in exchange for highly touted infield prospect Yoan Moncada, fireball pitching prospect Michael Kopech, Luis Alexander Basabe and Victor Diaz.

The Red Sox opened at 10/1 at Westgate LV Superbook to win the 2017 World Series, but after adding Sale to their already solid starting pitching staff their odds to win dropped to 5/1 – making them the second favorites behind the defending World Series champions, the Chicago Cubs.

On the other hand, the White Sox’ fire sale moved their World Series odds from 60/1 to 200/1 (currently the longest odds to win for 2017).
