College Football Week 12 Potential Upsets

The Wake Forest Demon Deacons travel to North Carolina State this week as heavy 17-point underdogs on the college football betting board.

The 2-7 Demon Deacons have struggled to produce wins this season but have been a solid bet with two straight ATS wins over tough conference opponents Boston College and Clemson, and are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games.

Wake Forest topped the Wolfpack in their most recent meeting, recording a 28-13 win over NC State as 8-point home underdogs last season.

The Wolfpack are a much improved team this year. With a 5-5 overall record, NC State are just one win away from claiming bowl eligibility but are a mere 1-5 SU in their last six outings, 3-3 ATS, and are winless against ACC opponents this season.

While an outright win by Wake Forest would end a stretch of seven straight wins by the home squad in head-to-head matchups between these two teams, the Demon Deacons have proven capable of hanging tough against superior teams and are a good bet to keep this matchup close.

Matchup Reports: Wake Forest vs. North Carolina State | Utah vs. Stanford

After enjoying a much needed bye last weekend, the 5-4 Stanford Cardinal will also be looking to achieve bowl eligibility when they take on Utah as 7.5-point home favorites at the sportsbooks.

Both teams enter Saturday’s matchup at Stanford Stadium following brutal losses to Oregon, who jumped two positions in this week’s College Football Playoff Rankings.

While the Utes’ current two-game losing streak ends their hopes of competing for a conference title or CFP berth, their woes pale in comparison to the two-time defending Pac-12 champion Cardinal, who sit at 5-4 SU and a miserable 3-5-1 ATS, 1-4-1 in their last six.

Stanford will be eager to post a victory at home before ending their regular season schedule with a pair of games on the road. But against an angry Utah squad that had allowed less than 23 points per game in the four outings prior to their 51-27 beating by the Ducks, the low-scoring Cardinal will be hard-pressed to keep it close. The Utes are poised to hand Stanford their fifth SU loss this season against nationally ranked opponents.
