College Football Week 15 Betting Recap

The Florida State Seminoles failed to cover the spread once again in Week 15, but their SU victory over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the ACC Championship Game was enough for them to clinch a berth in the inaugural College Football Playoff.

Florida State topped Georgia Tech 37-35 as a 4.5-point favorite in the ACC title game to finish the season at 13-0 SU but 3-10 ATS. The College Football Playoff selection committee then gave the Seminoles the No. 3 seed in the four-team postseason field, which puts them into the Rose Bowl.

Florida State will face No. 2 Oregon in the Rose Bowl, after the Ducks topped Arizona 51-13 as a 15-point favorite in the Pac-12 Championship Game. No. 1 Alabama also took care of business in Week 15, beating Missouri 42-13 as 14.5-point favorite in the SEC Championship Game to put them into the Sugar Bowl.

And the Crimson Tide’s opponent in the Sugar Bowl will be No. 4 Ohio State, with the Buckeyes blasting Wisconsin 59-0 in the Big Ten Championship Game as a 4.5-point underdog despite being down to their third-string quarterback. Both the Sugar Bowl and the Rose Bowl will be played on New Year’s Day, with the winners moving on to the College Football Championship Game.

TCU and Baylor both had shots at a spot in the College Football Playoff heading into Week 15, and despite the fact they both picked up victories they still weren’t selected for the four-team field. The Horned Frogs thumped Iowa State 55-3 as a 34-point favorite, and Baylor got past Kansas State 38-27 as an 8-point favorite.

Rounding out the notable Week 15 action, Boise State beat Fresno State 28-14 but didn’t cover as 22-point favorites in the MWC Championship Game, Marshall held off Louisiana Tech 26-23 but couldn’t cover the 11-point spread in the C-USA Championship Game, and Northern Illinois knocked off Bowling Green 51-17 for a SU and ATS win as a 6.5-point favorite in the MAC Championship Game.
