After dropping a stunning 31-25 decision last week to Duke as 3.5-point home favorites, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets travel to North Carolina to take on the resurgent Tar Heels as slim 3-point favorites in college football betting at Bovada.
The loss by Georgia Tech (5-1, 2-1 ACC) was their first of the season SU, but extended a worrisome trend of just four ATS wins in their last 11. The Jackets turned over the ball on four occasions, including a pair of second-half interceptions thrown by QB Justin Thomas.
North Carolina (2-4, 0-2 ACC) have shown steady improvement against increasingly tough opponents, topped by a solid performance last week in a 50-43 loss to Notre Dame as 16.5-point road favorites.
Led by QB Marquise Williams’ 303 passing yards, two TDs in the air and one on the ground, the Tar Heels proved that they can compete against elite defenses. With an early lead, UNC could upset if the Yellow Jackets continue to play sloppy with the ball and inconsistent defense that has forced them to play catch up in the second half in their last three outings.
Matchup Reports: Georgia Tech vs. North Carolina | Baylor vs. West Virginia
The Baylor Bears (6-0, 3-0 Big 12) will be looking to overcome a defensive debacle last weekend when they take on West Virginia as 8.5-point road favorites at Bovada.
The Bears needed 24 unanswered points in the final 11minutes to eke out a 61-58 shootout win over TCU on Saturday, while posting their first loss ATS in this season. It was an uncharacteristic defensive struggle for Baylor who entered the game averaging just over 12 points against.
The Mountaineers (4-2, 2-1 Big 12) have had no trouble scoring points, averaging 36.7 per game this season, and staged an improbable comeback of their own last week, overcoming a 17-point deficit to top Texas Tech 37-34, amassing 550 total yards, their fifth 500+ yard game of the season.
This game has all the making of a high scoring affair, including recent head-to-head history, with West Virginia recording a 70-63 win in the Bears’ last visit. But while the Bears have been the better college football bet at Bovada, 4-2 ATS in their last six at home versus the Mountaineers’ 2-5 home record ATS in their last seven, the difference could be West Virginia QB Clint Trickett, who has fueled the revitalized Mountaineers offense with 12 TD passes and 2203 passing yards, good for third in the nation.
