The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are listed at No. 5 in the AP Top 25 poll heading into this weekend, but they get a huge chance to prove they belong in the four-team field for the College Football Playoff as they take on the No. 2 Florida State Seminoles in an 8:00pm ET kickoff on Saturday.
Both teams are 6-0 SU on the season, but the Seminoles have been hurting bettors at 1-5 ATS through six games – while the Fighting Irish have managed to pay out at 4-2 ATS. Florida State has dropped out of the top spot in the rankings but they’re still entering the weekend as 11.5-point favorites at the sportsbooks against a tough Notre Dame team.
Matchup Reports: Notre Dame vs. Florida State | Georgia vs. Arkansas | Washington vs. Oregon
If the College Football Playoff field followed the current AP Top 25 it would be Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Baylor joining Florida State in the four berths. No. 3 Ole Miss hosts Tennessee on Saturday as a 16.5-point favorite, while No. 4 Baylor is at West Virginia as a 7.5-point favorite.
No. 1 Mississippi State is off this week, but they now boast the top Heisman Trophy contender along with that top ranking – quarterback Dak Prescott has taken over as the 9/4 Heisman favorite from suspended Georgia running back Todd Gurley. Gurley practiced this week but did not go with the team to their road game against Arkansas. The Bulldogs are still 3.5-point favorites for that contest.
Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota was the Heisman Trophy favorite earlier in the season, and he’ll be looking to put up big numbers on Saturday as his Ducks take on Washington as 21-point home favorites at the sportsbooks. Oregon has fallen to No. 9 in the rankings thanks to their loss to Arizona two weeks ago.
