DePaul has reached a deal in principle to rehire Dave Leitao as its men’s basketball coach, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com on Sunday.

A formal announcement could come in the next 24 hours.

ESPN.com reported earlier Sunday that a deal would be reached “barring a hiccup.”

That deal was reached Sunday afternoon.

Leitao, 54, coached DePaul from 2002 to 2005 and took the Blue Demons to one NCAA Tournament in three seasons. He then left for Virginia, where he went 63-60 in four years with one NCAA Tournament appearance in between nothing but losing ACC records.

Leitao’s ACC record was 27-37.

He finished better than seventh in the league standings only once.
