Duquesne coach Jim Ferry celebrated his 300th career win on Friday at George Mason, an 86-75 win, but the Dukes never made it back to celebrate that evening because of the heavy snowfall associated with Winter Storm Jonas.

The Dukes’ Twitter account posted this photo of the team stranded in at least a foot of snow on the Pennsylvania turnpike.

Ferry said Saturday morning on ESPN’s SportsCenter that everyone was safe but the team, at the time, was still waiting to get back to Pittsburgh.

“It’s been a heck of an experience,” Ferry told ESPN on Saturday morning. “… We were making good time, kept track of the storm and we’re doing well. Then about 9:15 last night, it was a dead stop and we haven’t moved since.”

The game was moved up because of the winter storm but clearly an adverse result was not avoided. Several other games have been moved because of the storm this weekend; you can check out all the latest updates here.
