Everton vs. Liverpool Betting Preview

[ad_1]

To say that Liverpool and Everton are off to bad starts this season would be a major understatement. Both finished in the top five of the EPL last season, and the Reds finished second, but both are out of the top 10 in the league table early this season.

Liverpool has three losses in their last four matches and Everton has two losses in their last three matches.

The Reds simply cannot get it together in their last few EPL matches even though they have recent wins in the Champions League and the Capital One Cup.

At sportsbooks tracked here at VSB Liverpool is the Premier League betting favorite at home with odds of 4-5, with Everton at 16-5 and a draw line of 11-4.

Don’t think the Reds miss Luis Suarez, who led the EPL in goals last season and is now playing for Barcelona? Liverpool’s offense ranked second in goals last season, but so far after five matches they have only scored seven.

Raheem Sterling is the only Liverpool player than has more than one goal (he has three), and it does not help the offense that Daniel Sturridge is dealing with an injury.

To say that Mario Balotelli has been a disappointment so far for the Reds is putting it mildly, as while he did score in the Reds’ recent Champions League match he has failed to score in league play.

While the Liverpool offense is struggling, maybe being at home facing Everton is just what they need. Everton has conceded the most goals in the EPL so far on the season and in their last two matches overall they have given up three in each.

While the Everton defense has really been struggling their offense has played well with the second-most goals in the league. Steven Naismith leads the club with three goals and Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas have two apiece.

One thing the Reds have going for them is that they survived a scare from Middlesbrough in their most recent match when they won after extra time in a marathon shootout.

Prediction: The Reds are the betting favorite at home and in need of a win, which they will get on their pitch by a score of 2-1.
