Halfway through season, Blackhawks widening gap in Stanley Cup odds

With most teams are officially halfway through their schedules, it is time to take a look at the favorites to hoist the Stanley Cup at season’s end.

And it should come as a surprise to no one that the defending champion Chicago Blackhawks lead the way at 5-1, according to the Westgate LV Superbook.

The Blackhawks haven’t moved much since opening the season at 7-1, but definitely they have in the standings. They stumbled a bit out of the gate, but are currently on a seven-game winning streak and sit just four points behind the Dallas Stars for first place in the Central Division.

As for the the Stars, who were at one time the favorites as high a 7-1, they have come back down to earth a bit and now on the board at 8-1 and trail the aforementioned ‘Hawks, the Washington Capitals (6-1) and the Los Angeles Kings (7-1) in Stanley Cup futures.

Meanwhile, the red-hot, now Atlantic Division leading Florida Panthers, have gone 12-0-1 in their last 13 games and improved their odds all the way to 16-1 after opening at 40-1.
