History Working Against Ravens | Odds Shark

In the NFL, starting the regular season with back to back losses is a tough hole to climb out of. But according to recent history, dropping three-straight out of the gate can be nearly impossible to rebound from.

Since 1990, only three teams have seen the postseason after starting 0-3 (’92 Chargers, ’95 Lions and ’98 Bills). Clubs that have begun their respective seasons dropping three in a row have missed the playoffs 82 straight times since the Doug Flutie-led Bills did so in 1998.

The Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, New Orleans Saints and Baltimore Ravens are carrying the winless label heading into Week 4. Despite the aforementioned struggles of teams in the same position, sportsbooks haven’t completely given up on the Ravens just yet.

Odds as of September 29 at Bodog & Bovada

  • Baltimore Ravens +7500
  • Detroit Lions +20000
  • New Orleans Saints +20000
  • Chicago Bears +50000

Baltimore has been a perennial Super Bowl contender over the past few years, but Joe Flacco’s squad has looked like anything but the team that pushed the eventual champion Patriots to the brink in the AFC Divisional Round last season.

A questionable wide receiving corps, spotty play from Flacco and the season-long loss of defensive stalwart Terrell Suggs have been a major reason why the Ravens boast a goose egg in the win column. With that being said, the sole winless AFC team currently has the third best chances to capture its division at Bovada.

Odds as of September 29 at Bodog & Bovada

  • Cincinnati Bengals -200
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +260
  • Baltimore Ravens +750
  • Cleveland Browns +2500

It’s no surprise to see Baltimore ranked ahead of the hapless Browns and it’s quite clear the shop still believes the Ravens can at least put an effort into salvaging its season.

John Harbaugh’s club have made it incredibly difficult on themselves in the early going of the campaign, meaning NFL futures bettors need to take note in case history repeats itself yet again.
