Horses: Dubai World Cup Betting Odds

[ad_1]

California Chrome has landed safely in Dubai and is the betting favorite for the world’s richest race, the $10 million Dubai World Cup (G1), which will be contested on Saturday night at Meydan Racecourse.

The 2014 Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner was elected Horse of the Year and leads a strong group of U.S. based runners that are making the trip to Dubai this year. Just three traveled to Dubai last year in the racetrack’s finale with a synthetic surface known as Tapeta, but 16 are making the trip this year.

The Tapeta has been replaced with conventional dirt, and the U.S. based runners figure to be tough in the dirt races, and could be heard from in the turf races as well.

California Chrome made his 2015 debut in the San Antonio Invitational (G2) at Santa Anta where he ran second behind Shared Belief. The Art Sherman trainee is listed at betting odds at Bodog of 5/4 for the Dubai World Cup.

Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, who won the 1996 running of the race with Cigar, is back with Lea, who is at betting odds of 10/3. The son of First Samurai ran second in the Donn Handicap (G1) at Gulfstream Park in his last outing.

The defending champion of the Dubai World Cup is African Story, who is back this year and is at odds of 6/1 at Bodog.

Main Sequence, the 2014 Eclipse Award winner for top turf male is listed at betting odds of 9/2 in the $6 million Dubai Sheema Classic (G1). The Graham Motion trainee has won five races in a row and won four Grade 1 races last year.

Mubtaahij and Golden Barows share top betting honors for the $2 million UAE Derby (G2) which is part of the Road to the Kentucky Derby series of races.

U.S. based horses will be tough in the Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1), a dirt sprint. Secret Circle, winner of the 2013 Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) and the runner up in last year’s edition, is the 3/1 betting favorite at Bodog.

The Dubai World Cup will be televised on Fox Sports 1 as part of the Jockey Club Tour on Fox series. The show will air from 12:30 to 1:30 ET.
