Illinois junior guard Kendrick Nunn will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a ligament in his left thumb, sources told CBS Sports.
Nunn’s expected recovery time is eight weeks.
The 6-foot-3 guard averaged 11.1 points last season and was expected to be the Illini’s starting shooting guard this season.
Nunn joins a plethora of Illinois players who are already injured this season including LeRon Black (meniscus) and Tracy Abrams (achilles, out for year).
The Illini went 19-14 last year and advanced to the Postseason NIT.
