Indiana guard James Blackmon will be ready for the start of practice Friday, coach Tom Crean said Monday.
“He’s fully cleared,” Crean said of the 6-foot-4 Blackmon, who underwent surgery in July to repair a torn meniscus in his knee.
He averaged 15.7 points and 5.3 rebounds last season as a freshman. Indiana was 13-2 last season when Blackmon scored 18 or more points.
Expected to be a Big Ten contender, the Hoosiers likely are a top-15 team and finished 20-14 last season before losing to Wichita State in the NCAA Round of 64.
