If all heals well, Iowa State will have senior-to-be guard Naz Long back in the lineup by the start of the season. Long underwent hip surgery this week — his second this offseason — and he’s expected to be out at least three monhts, but it could be as long as five.
Long sent out this tweet on Friday.
The get back, the get right. #Blessed

Iowa State assistant T.J. Otzelberger sent along this message prior to Long’s surgery on Thursday.
Thoughts and prayers out to @NazzyJLong for a successful surgery today. No better teammate, no better person!

The surgery went well, per ISU’s athletic trainer, who told the Des-Moines Register there were “no hitches” in the procedure. Long needed a torn labrum taken care of in his right hip. He had his left labrum worked on at the end of March.
The bummer for Long is he’ll miss out on the team’s exhibition games in Spain this August.
Long, who should be Iowa State’s best deep shooter next season, averaged 10.1 points last season. His true shooting percentage last year was an impressive 61.8. Iowa State is ranked fifth in our offseason Ridiculously Early Top 25 (and one).
