La Salle transfer Khalid Lewis has committed to Illinois, sources told CBSSports.com.
Since he’s already a college graduate, Lewis will be immediately eligible to play next season.
A 6-3 guard, Lewis averaged 6.0 points last season and started 18 games for La Salle.
He and Jaylon Tate are the primary candidates to be the Illini’s starting point guard next season following Tracy Abrams’ season-ending Achilles injury last week. Abrams also missed last season after he suffered a torn ACL during the preseason.
Illinois went 19-14 last season and advanced to the Postseason NIT.
