The Detroit Lions are 7-3 both SU and ATS in their last 10 preseason games dating back to 2013 as they hit the road for their Week 3 exhibition contest on Friday night as slight underdogs against the Jacksonville Jaguars at the sportsbooks.
At 5Dimes the Lions are listed as 1-point road underdogs for their primetime matchup on Friday in Jacksonville on CBS at 8:00pm ET. The total for the contest is set at 42 points.
The Lions are 1-1 both SU and ATS so far in the preseason, beating the Jets 23-3 at home as a 4-point favorite and losing to the Redskins 21-17 on the road as a 3-point underdog. Both of those games turned out to be UNDER results on the totals.
Last year the Lions were 3-1 both SU and ATS in the preseason, and the UNDER paid out in three of those four games.
Detroit wide receiver Calvin Johnson won’t play against the Jaguars on Friday night; he hasn’t seen any preseason action this summer and isn’t expected to play until the regular season. Johnson had 1,077 receiving yards and eight touchdowns in 13 games last year.
The Jaguars are also 1-1 both SU and ATS so far this preseason, beating the Steelers 23-21 at home in a pick’em and losing 22-12 on the road against the Giants as a 3.5-point underdog. Last year the Jaguars were 1-3 SU and 3-1 ATS in the preseason; the UNDER is 5-1 in their last six exhibition games.
Detroit and Jacksonville last met back in 2012, with the Lions winning 31-14 as a 6-point road favorite in an OVER result. The Jaguars also fell to the Lions 13-12 as a 3-point road underdog in an UNDER result when the teams met in the preseason in 2014.
