BYU assistant Mark Pope has reached an agreement in principle to become the next head coach at Utah Valley, sources told CBSSports.com on Monday.
An official announcement is expected soon.
Pope is best known for having played at Kentucky, where he won a national title in 1996. He played in the NBA and has been on college staffs since 2009 at Georgia, Wake Forest and, for the past four seasons, at BYU. Utah Valley finished 5-9 in the WAC this season.
