The 2015 NHL Draft featured the type of generational talent that doesn’t come along very often, and there’s no debating the Edmonton Oilers struck gold in landing Connor McDavid first overall via the draft lottery.
There’s so much hype around McDavid that he’s been likened to another Canadian former super prospect that hails from Cole Harbour, NS and wears No. 87 for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Newmarket, ON native put up an eye-popping 120 points in just 47 games for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League last season and has proven he’s ready for the biggest stage at the tender age of 18.
So, how are sportsbooks expecting the supremely talented center to fare in his first taste of NHL action? According to Bodog, McDavid is the runaway -175 favorite to capture the Calder Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s rookie of the year, ahead of Buffalo’s No. 2 overall selection Jack Eichel (+300) and Calgary’s Sam Bennett (+700).
Here’s a look at the full list of odds the book is offering on which rookie will claim the hardware in the upcoming NHL campaign.
