Michigan’s Zak Irvin may play Friday, recovering from back injury

Michigan’s Zak Irvin may play Friday in the Wolverines’ opener against Northern Michigan, John Beilein told CBS Sports on Tuesday.

Irvin has been limited throughout the preseason due to a back injury.

The 6-foot-6 wing averaged 14.3 points per game and made 77 3-point shots last season as a sophomore.

Michigan went 16-16 last season, but didn’t have two starters — Derrick Walton and Caris LeVert — available after Jan. 27 due to injuries.
