Missed call helps Wisconsin win, cover in Big 10 Championship Game

In an intense see-saw battle for the Big 10 Championship with Michigan State Sunday, Wisconsin came out on top 80-69 in overtime while covering the -7 spread in the process.

But the ending will leave a sour taste in the mouths of Spartan bettors. In the last minute of the fourth quarter, Josh Gasser of the Badgers made what looked to be a fantastic diving save to keep his team’s championship hopes alive.

Immediately after, however, the CBS broadcast pointed out that Gasser stepped on the line. The Spartans, who had the lead at the time, would have been crowned victorious if the officiating crew had noticed.

The missed call resulted in another opportunity for the reigning Big 10 champions to tie up the ball game and send the matchup to overtime, where the Badgers regained the lead and didn’t look back.
