With the Washington Nationals signing Max Scherzer to a seven-year contract, the Nationals have become the 5/1 favorite to win the 2015 World Series, according to Sportsbook.ag.

The Nationals were listed at 9/1 before adding the 2013 Cy Young award winner to a pitching staff that already includes Stephen Strasbugh, Gio Gonzalez, Doug Fister and Jordan Zimmerman.

However, it has been rumored Washington is shopping Zimmerman, who has just one year left on his contract.

Scherzer went 18-5 with a 3.15 ERA in 2014, a year after his 21-3, 2.90 ERA Cy Young Award campaign 2013.
