After cameras caught NC State guard Anthony Barber saying “What … [is] wrong with Barack Obama” to his teammates after Saturday’s game, Barber said President Obama took no exception to his choice of words, reports the Associated Press.
Barber was referring to Obama picking Villanova to reach the NCAA Tournament final, but the Wolfpack squashed that with an upset win over the Wildcats.
Barber said he was emotional after the win and he wasn’t trying to call the president out, which Obama understood.
“He knows it was in the heat of the moment,” Barber said. “It was nothing bad, nothing personal. People are just trying to make it bad.”
