NCAAF Odds And Predictions: #8 Ohio State Buckeyes Vs. Minnesota Golden Gophers

Saturday NCAA Football Game of the Week! Our Team Has you covered with all the Analysis on the Favorable odds and we give our Predictions.

Just one week after their biggest win of the season, the 8th ranked Ohio State Buckeyes head west to take on 25th ranked Minnesota squad. The 7-2 Golden Gophers are undefeated at home this season but without any notable victories, they barely squeaked into the top 25 this week. The Buckeyes on the other hand, enter the game on an emotional high after escaping East Lansing with a 49-37 victory over the 12th ranked Michigan State Spartans.

Minnesota’s offense can only go as far as senior running back David Cobb will take them. While Cobb’s yards per carry won’t impress many, the Golden Gophers’ determination to run the ball has Cobb ranked as a top 10 running back. Redshirt freshmen quarterback J.T. Barrett had a coming out party against Michigan State last weekend, throwing for three touchdowns and adding a pair of scores on the ground. Sophomore running back Ezekiel Elliott continued his breakout season rushing for 154 yards against one of the nation’s stingiest defenses. While Ohio State will be without running back Dontre Wilson for a few weeks, the Buckeyes have enough offensive weapons to avoid missing a beat against Minnesota.

The Buckeyes have outscored their opponents by an average of 24.2 points per game this season and haven’t lost a regular season road game under head coach Urban Meyer, a streak that dates back to the 2011 season. While Minnesota’s 7-2 record is impressive, they haven’t beaten any notable opponents and were dismantled by TCU earlier this year.

BetOnline currently lists this game as Ohio State -13, but expect this number to go up before Saturday’s kickoff. While 13 points is a lot to give a home team, the Buckeyes have won road games by an average of 16 point this season. Expect the Buckeyes to slow the Golden Gopher ground game and force sophomore quarterback Mitch Leidner to beat them through the air. If the Buckeyes can force Leidner into a mistake and the Barrett can continue to impress, the Buckeyes should have no problem throttling an overrated Minnesota team. Take Ohio State in a game that likely won’t be close.
