NFL Playoff Preview: Carolina Panthers at Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are the largest favorite on the betting lines -11.5 for the NFL Divisional Playoffs round as they get ready to face the Carolina Panthers at CenturyLink Field on Saturday night.

When these two teams met during the regular season this year, the Seahawks failed to cover the spread, beating Carolina 13-9 on the road as a 6-point favorite in one of the easiest UNDER results for totals bettors at the online sportsbooks.

Seattle has been patiently waiting to play their first playoff game of the season as they received a bye into the second round.

Cam Newton had only 198 passing yards and threw two touchdown passes while the Carolina Panthers defense set a NFL record for fewest yards conceded during a playoff game in a 27-16 victory Saturday, against the Arizona Cardinals.

This is the first playoff victory for the Panthers in nine years and the first appearence for Newton since he entered the NFL as the first overall pick in 2011.

Jonathan Stewart tallied 122 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown during a rainy afternoon.

The Panthers limited the Cardinals to 78 yards of total offensive. They intercepted two passes from Ryan Lindley and managed four sacks at his expense. In Total, the Panthers have accumulated 386 yards.

“We know who we are, threatening, stifling and we will attack you, said cornerback Josh Norman. We know when there is blood in the water and when there is, we are hungry.

The Panthers (8-8-1) will face the Seattle Seahawks next weekend on Sunday.

“We had a lot of new guys early in the season and we had to get used to, said Kuechly. Now we all work together and communicate, and it’s huge.

After starting the season with nine wins in 10 games, injuries sank the Cardinals. Injuries t oquarterbacks Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton particularly hurt the offensive of the team.

The New York Giants held the previous record for the lowest total yards granted in the playoffs, limiting the Cleveland Browns to a poor harvest 86 yards on 21 December 1958.

To be fair, the Cardinals started to make lateral passes on the last play of the game and lost 20 yards.

Trailing by a point at halftime, the Panthers scored two touchdowns in an interval of one minute 32 seconds late in the third quarter to take control of the game.

“Our coaches have done a good job and we knew what to expect, said Davis. We covered the ground and we made the big plays.
