NFL primetime games going Over at a rapid rate this season

With the spotlight of the Nation solely on them, NFL teams playing in primetime have been treating fans – and Over bettors – to shootouts this season.

The Over/Under has gone 28-8 in Thursday, Sunday and Monday Night Football games this year. That trend has continued in Week 12, as K.C. and Oakland put up 44 points on the board Thursday that surpassed the closing total of 42, while the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys soared past the 48.5 total in a 31-28 hard fought contest at MetLife Stadium Sunday evening.

Monday has two primetime matchups on tap after heavy snow in the Western New York area forced the league to move the Buffalo-New York Jets clash to Detroit’s Ford Field. In the other Monday nighter, Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens travel to Louisiana for a date with Drew Brees’ New Orleans Saints.

The O/U is 7-3 in Saints games and 5-5 in Ravens contests so far in the campaign. The Bills have been far from a boon for Over bettors, however, as eight out of their first 10 clashes have gone Under the total. For the Jets, it’s 5-5 heading into Monday.

Another particular trend bettors need to be aware of prior to kickoff is the Saints’ ability to light up the scoreboard in Monday Night Football. New Orleans is riding a seven game streak of scoring at least 28 points under the Monday lights – an NFL record, per Mike Triplett of ESPN.

The total for BUF-NYJ is currently sitting at 42. Books have the number in the Saints-Ravens affair at 50.5.
