Adrian Peterson. Matt Forte. Alshon Jeffery. Those are some big weapons in the Minnesota-Chicago game Sunday. So I’m going over 42.5 points.
Teddy Bridgewater is coming off his best game of the season. That means the Bears just can’t key on Peterson. Chicago’s defense ranks second-to-last in points allowed at 29.8 a game. Rookie Stefon Diggs has upgraded the Vikings’ receiving corps.
Minnesota has a much stronger defense than the Bears. However, the Vikings are on the road and Chicago’s offense is dangerous versus any opponent now that Jeffery has regained his health. Jay Cutler has been decent. He takes his shots downfield and has loads of weapons with Jeffery, Forte, Eddie Royal and Martellus Bennett.
TAKE THE NINERS AND THE POINTS
I’m going to take nine points with San Francisco in its NFC West Division road matchup versus St. Louis.
The 49ers don’t match up well to Seattle losing 20-3 to the Seahawks last Thursday. In their two previous games, though, the 49ers nearly upset the New York Giants on the road and defeated Baltimore 25-20.
Colin Kaepernick is playing for his future. He has the mobility to make plays out of the pocket, a key when facing a great pass rushing unit such as the Rams.
Not only is it tough to lay so many points with a Nick Foles-quarterbacked team, but the Rams have one of the weaker home fields with their fans turned off by rumors of the team moving.
JETS SET FOR ATS WIN VS RAIDERS
I also believe the New York Jets will cover less than a field goal on the road against Oakland. The Raiders have improved. But they are at least one level behind the Jets.
The Jets rank first in run defense, second in total defense and fourth in scoring defense allowing 17.5 points a game. The Raiders are No. 20 in total defense, rate last in pass defense and are surrendering 25.5 points per game.
The Jets defeated the Raiders, 19-14, at home last season outgaining Oakland, 402-158.
Jets quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is 3-0 versus the Raiders having beat them when he was with the Bills, Titans and Texans. Now he gets to do it a fourth time with a fourth different team.
