The NIT Season Tip-Off schedule for this upcoming season has been released, and it’s headlined by two high-major NCAA Tournament teams from a season ago in Villanova and Arkansas.
Jay Wright’s Wildcats lead the way, featuring what will likely be a top-15 team next season including returning Big East Player of the Year Ryan Arcidiacono, center Daniel Ochefu, and incoming five-star freshman Jalen Brunson. They’ll face Stanford, last season’s postseason NIT champion, in the semifinals on Nov. 26. The other pre-set semifinal, featuring Arkansas and Georgia Tech, will also be played on that date, with the two winners meeting in the championship game on Nov. 27.
The semifinals and finals this season will be played at the Barclays Center after previously being held at Madison Square Garden since 1985. It was also announced that the event will be held at Barclays Center in 2016 and in 2018 as well, with the 2017 iteration being held at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.
