The New York Mets reached the World Series. So why can’t the New York Jets make the Super Bowl?
That idea won’t seem so preposterous if the 4-1 Jets were to upset 5-0 New England on the road Sunday.
The Patriots have gone from 9.5-point favorites down to 7.5. If you believe the Jets can win this game consider doing two things: Making a moneyline wager on them where the odds are around plus $3.00, and also taking them on the futures book.
The Jets are 25-1 to win the Super Bowl according to current odds at Bodog
. Those odds figure to go down if the Jets were to defeat the Patriots.
Stats Backing Up Jets’ Case This Year
Beat the Patriots at Foxboro and the Jets can lay claim to being as good as any team. They have the statistics to back it.
The Jets are the No. 1 rushing team averaging 146 yards per game. Chris Ivory is having a breakout season. Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker are one of the better wide receiver tandems in the league.
It’s on defense where the Jets really dominate. They are No. 1 in fewest yards per game at 269.2 and also first in scoring defense giving up only 15 points per game. New York also ranks No. 2 in run defense and pass defense.
Jets coach Todd Bowles, unlike his predecessor Rex Ryan, is a true defensive mastermind. He proved it as defensive coordinator with Arizona last year and he’s doing it with the Jets this season.
Jets are Strong in Point Differential
The Jets just aren’t eking out close wins. They are plus 54 in point differential. Cincinnati and Denver are the other unbeaten teams in the AFC along with New England. The Bengals are playing well, but like the Jets lack an elite quarterback.
Denver is lucky to be 6-0. Every game the Broncos have played has been close. Peyton Manning no longer is an elite quarterback either.
Green Bay is the class of the NFC. The Jets, though, could match up well to the next two closest teams in the NFC, Carolina and Arizona.
So if you believe in the Jets, now’s the time to make an investment.
