Podcast: Possible San Diego State violations; list of top programs

I got with my colleagues Matt Norlander and Sam Vecenie on Wednesday afternoon to discuss a number of issues in the sport of college basketball. Among them:

Is Jim Boeheim right when he says the NCAA’s punishment of Syracuse was excessive?
Do people realize San Diego State’s statement about the NCAA’s investigation into allegations of potential rules violations was little more than a game of semantics?
Do UConn fans have a right to be mad about being left off of our list of the 15 college basketball programs best positioned to succeed over the next five years?
Should Shaka Smart be celebrating now that Steve Patterson is no longer at Texas?

PS: I’ve been bombarded on Twitter with questions about Tuesday’s report on San Diego State. As you probably realize, Twitter isn’t the best place to try to explain things to people. But we spent a good while discussing that SDSU story in this podcast, and, if you’ve had a question about it, there’s a good chance I addressed it here.

The latest Eye on College Basketball podcast is below.
