Public liking O’s to halt Royals’ hot streak – 10-14-2014

After heavy rains in the Kansas City area postponed
Game 3 of the ALCS Monday, the Orioles and Royals will face off
Tuesday instead at Ewing M. Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals head into the matchup with a 2-0 lead and are
still unbeaten in the postseason, riding a six game playoff
winning streak into the contest. The starting pitchers for
Game 3 have not changed despite the extra day of rest, as
Wei-Yin Chen gets the nod for Baltimore and Jeremy Guthrie
counters on the bump for the Royals.

Despite the Royals’ recent success, it appears the majority
of the betting public is still against them. That’s the case
for five
hours ahead of the first pitch.

“We’re currently seeing 61 percent of all moneyline wagers
placed on Baltimore -112,” said Brad Kennedy, an oddsmaker
for the sportsbook. “We’re also receiving 67 percent of
spread wagers being placed on Baltimore at -1.5 (+145).”

Those numbers aren’t nearly as skewed as they were in
previous Royals games, as an inexperienced team that hasn’t
seen the postseason in 29 years has continued to prove their
doubters wrong. The Royals are presently slight +102 dogs on
the moneyline at for
the clash.

The total for the game sits at 7.5 (-115) at the book, and it
appears the bulk of bettors at the sportsbook believe it’s
going to be a high-scoring affair in Missouri.

“Sixty-three percent of the total action is on the game going
Over the total,” said Kennedy.
