The Rangers are currently running away with the AL West as they enter the second game in their series with the Angels, over whom they hold a 21-game division lead over. LAA has has one of the worst starting rotations in the league this year and that’s not expected to change tonight as they send out Daniel Wright (0-2, 7.62 ERA) to take on Cole Hamels (14-5, 3.25 ERA) and the deadly Rangers’ lineup.
- The Total has gone OVER in 10 of the Rangers’ last 11 games.
- Batters hit .417 off Daniel Wright in his 1st stint with a major league club.
- Hamels has limited batters to a .216 average in starts away from home.
Things have turned sour in a hurry for the probable Hall of Famer Cole Hamels. He has given up 13 runs in his last six innings – over two starts – after posting six straight quality starts. Even with his last implosion in Seattle, Hamels still owns a 2.54 ERA and 9-3 record on the road.
Daniel Wright had a bit of a rough introduction to the big leagues as he gave up 11 earned runs in his first 13-innings pitched. He was recently called back up to the majors to fill a role in an Angels’ rotation that has been one of the most fluid in the big leagues.
The desperate Angels recently acquired the righty from the Reds organization as they continue to look for answers. Wright may end up being another question, though, as he had an ERA of 6.13 in 12 starts at Triple-A before being called up.
