Baseball is back and it’s time for another edition of what many see as one the best and most historic rivalries in all of pro sports as Steven Wright (10-5, 2.68 ERA) and the Boston Red Sox head into Yankee Stadium to take on Michael Pineda (3-8, 5.38 ERA) and the Bronx Bombers.
- The Red Sox are 7-3 in their last 10 games against the Yankees and 4-2 this season.
- The Yankees are 7-2 in their last nine games at Yankee stadium after a win at home.
- The total has gone OVER in 5 of the Red Sox’ last 7 games with a total of 9.5 or more.
Pineda has been, for lack of a better term, weird this year. He had a horrific start to the 2016 season but had looked to have things figured out when he enjoyed an excellent month of June. The tall righty, however, got lit up got for five runs in his last start vs the White Sox and may have a tough time keeping the big bats of the Red Sox in the yard tonight.
If it’s Steven Wright, it can’t be wrong – right? The knuckle-baller has been arguably, Boston’s best pitcher this year and was even named an all-star. In his lone start against the Bombers this year, Wright threw a complete game, three-hitter and allowed just one run. Even more impressive is the fact that this performance came in Yankee Stadium, where the knuckler will pitch tonight.
The Red Sox are an interesting underdog pick tonight and deserve some serious attention.
