Jeff Rabjohns of Rivals.com is reporting Indiana sophomore-to-be James Blackmon, Jr. will indeed be on campus next season in Bloomington.
Blackmon’s return to the Hoosiers ensures IU will be a preseason top 15 team next season. He was one of the most prolific offensive freshmen in college basketball last season, averaging 15.7 points and 5.3 rebounds in 30.0 minutes per game.
Indiana is assembling a big year of expectation in a season that will certainly have lot of optimism and pressure (as usual) on Tom Crean. Crean is entering year No. 8 at the program, having made the NCAA Tournament three of the past four seasons. Coveted prospect Thomas Bryant, an imposing big man, will join the fray. As will Juwan Morgan, a four-star power forward.
With the expectation that Yogi Ferrell will follow Blackmon’s lead and stay, we currently rank Indiana No. 13 in our Ridiculously Early Top 25 (and one). Ferrell’s decision will come on Saturday. He’s making his choice public at an Indianapolis Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
