Keith Frazier has left SMU’s basketball program, sources told CBS Sports on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-5 junior didn’t play in the Mustangs’ win over South Florida over the weekend and left the team to deal with “personal issues” according to SMU coach Larry Brown.
He averaged 11.9 points this season.
Frazier was at the center of an NCAA investigation surrounding SMU’s program which resulted in the Mustangs receiving a postseason ban and scholarship losses. He was ruled academically ineligible during the second semester of 2015.
The NCAA said an administrative assistant finished Frazier’s online coursework in less than three weeks’ time in the summer of 2013. This was done in an effort to get Frazier to qualify for his freshman season of play at SMU.
SMU is 13-0 overall and hosts Cincinnati on Thursday at Moody Coliseum.
