For the second time this year there is a new team that has been selected more times than any other in the history of the SuperContest at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook.
The most popular NFL pick of all-time is now the unbeaten New England Patriots (4-0), who were listed as 7.5-point road favorites visiting the Indianapolis Colts (3-2) on the SuperContest Card for the Week 6 Sunday Night Football matchup.
New England was included on 849 of 1,727 entries (49 percent), breaking the record of 713 set by the Carolina Panthers against the New Orleans Saints in Week 3.
The defending Super Bowl champion Patriots have gone as high as double-digit chalk according to the NFL betting odds at some sportsbooks since the contest card was released on Wednesday.
And those backing them apparently view this as one of the biggest revenge games ever for New England quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick, who have led the team to a 3-0-1 mark against the spread so far this year.
Pats Seek Revenge for Deflategate
The Colts lost the AFC Championship Game 45-7 in Foxborough back in January and then proceeded to cry foul by attributing the outcome to deflated balls. Better known as Deflategate, Brady was initially banned four games by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell before the suspension was overturned.
The questionable status of Indy QB Andrew Luck due to a shoulder injury that has kept him out the past two games also helped contestants make their decision to include the Pats among their five NFL picks.
New England is also the top NFL pick among Team OddsShark, chosen by 11 of the 21 members, including group co-leaders David Fucillo from SB Nation and Ryan Fowler from FOX Sports along with Ben Watanabe from NESN Sports, who covers the team.
The second-most popular play by the group also happens to be the second-most selected SuperContest pick of all-time, the Arizona Cardinals (4-1) as 3-point road favorites against the Pittsburgh Steelers (3-2). There were 10 group members who picked the Cardinals and 768 of the field overall (44 percent).
Fucillo and Fowler also both selected Arizona and shared a third common pick in the New York Jets (3-1), who are 6-point home chalk versus the Washington Redskins (2-3).
