Despite falling 16-10 at home last week to the unbeaten Cincinnati Bengals (8-0) as 1-point favorites and losing running back Le’Veon Bell for the season to a torn ACL, the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-4) are the top consensus SuperContest pick in Week 9.
Pittsburgh was selected by 706 contestants in the SuperContest as a 4-point home favorite against the surprising Oakland Raiders (4-3), who were chosen on 217 entries.
The Steelers were also the most popular play from Team OddsShark, with 10 of the 21 members selecting them as one of their five NFL picks on the SuperContest Card.
Packers Are Also Popular Week 9 Selection
The Green Bay Packers (6-1) were the second-most popular play both from the group and overall. The Packers are visiting the undefeated Carolina Panthers (7-0) as 2.5-point road favorites on Sunday, and nine team members picked them along with 605 of the 1,727 total contestants (35 percent) in the field.
Green Bay was the third-most popular pick last week as well but lost 29-10 to the Denver Broncos (7-0) as 3-point road favorites. Meanwhile, the New York Jets (4-3) were the second-most popular play last week and also lost 34-20 to the Raiders as 2.5-point road chalk.
The Jets are the third-most popular pick this week, as they are hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-5) as 6.5-point home favorites and were chosen by 555 contestants overall, including six members of Team OddsShark.
In addition, the Philadelphia Eagles (3-4) are the third-most popular play by the group and fourth overall. The Eagles are visiting the Dallas Cowboys (2-5) as 2.5-point road chalk and were picked on 508 entries, including eight team members.
Team OddsShark Sides With Vikings Sunday
However, there was a major difference between the fifth consensus pick overall and the opinion of Team OddsShark. The St. Louis Rams (4-3) were selected by 461 contestants as 1.5-point road underdogs visiting the Minnesota Vikings (5-2), who were actually the fourth-most popular play by the team, with seven members choosing them.
Only three members took the Rams while two others are fortunate enough to already have a win in the books, with group leader David Fucillo and Jason McIntyre both taking the Bengals as 11.5-point favorites against the Cleveland Browns (2-7) in the Week 9 Thursday Night Football game. Cincinnati defeated Cleveland 31-10 to stay perfect.
