Baseball is a very fickle sport. One day you’re up and everything’s going your way. But an error here, a seeing ball with eyes there and all of a sudden the losses can start to pile up. Just ask the Colorado Rockies who for two and a half months could do no wrong.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are hanging around on the fringes of contention. A sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday would bring them within four games of .500 and keep them within at minimum, four games of the Brewers for first in the NL Central.

It’s been a challenging schedule for the Los Angeles Angels of late. Since June 9th they’ve had series with Houston, two with the Yankees and one with the red-hot Royals. Heading into Thursday’s games they’ve fared pretty well, going 6-6 with three of the losses coming to Kansas City.
